What does a day in the life of a Content Writer looks like?
Content is a term widely used to describe for anything used to create for viewing/reading for an online audience. If you are somebody who has a flair for researching and writing on various topics, then the profession of a content writer is ideal for you.
However, it is not always as easy as it sounds. With an audience that is observing your content, it is important to nail it in the first shot and you must impress everyone observing your content.
But if you are a master of the trade then you can make a major buck out of it and along with it you get your job satisfaction.
The employment structure for the profession of a content writer is of two types:- A Freelancer and a full-time Content writer.
The difference between the two job roles is very different. A freelancer is someone who is paid per article created and is not employed on a full-time basis and is free to work anywhere, as long as they meet the deadline of delivering the piece of content. On the other hand, as the term suggests, a full-time Content writer is employed permanently and works under one organization.
According to recent statistics, 24% of full-time Content writers work for at
least 25 hours a week and there is a very thin line on how they distribute
their time between researching and putting their research to paper. So, to get
a clearer understanding of what a typical day looks like in a content writer’s
life, we put together a testament of a content writer who gave us an inside
look on his entire workday.
1. The morning begins with the content writer planning out his day as he goes
through what deadlines need to be met and what piece of content is to be
delivered at the end of the day. Whether it is Social Media posts, blog or an
article.
2. Following which, the content writer spends time researching across the internet, about the various topics that he has to write on. After he is done collecting a few basic ideas about the topics he has to pen down, he creates a rough draft on what ideas he would like to include from his research into his content.
3. Convinced with the right amount of information, to begin working on the article, the content writer begins to make a final draft of the article and this is where most and final work lies for a content writer.
4. While the content writer puts his thoughts on to the paper, he has to be
very careful in order to not make any grammatical errors in his content, as
that is a content writer’s biggest nightmare to have published content with flaws
in it. To keep a steady balance, there are tools like Grammarly that
help in correcting errors while writing.
Basically, to sum it all up a day in the life of a content writer is a hectic
one with lots of researching and writing to be done. The pressure is high as
he/she is required to grab a reader or potential customer’s attention, that
would sell them the product with the structure of the content and that is not
everyone’s cup of tea to sip on. But on the brighter side if you do manage to
pull it off with your content then you can make an attractive living out of it.
